Mail Search

For a $25 donation, library volunteers will search in-house materials and make limited copies of their findings. Research fees apply whether or not any relevant information is found. (Since we are an all-volunteer staff, volunteers cannot spend more than two hours on any given research request.)

Our volunteers do not trace the history of properties, do not compile family genealogies, nor do they perform courthouse research.

The $25 fee is payable in advance and is not refundable. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped 9 x 12 envelope with your research fee and mail to the Muncy Historical Society, P.O. Box 11, Muncy, PA 17756. Allow 4-6 weeks for a reply.

The Collection

The research library collection focuses on all aspects of Muncy’s history and citizens, businesses, and schools. The library contains a large collection of printed source materials including local cemetery records, marriage, and death records, Muncy Luminary microfilm (1841-1940), 400+ Local Revolutionary War veteran pension declarations; published family genealogies and county histories; 25 volumes the society’s Now and Then magazine, 1868 to present.

Now & Then

Now and Then is the magazine of history, biography, and genealogy published by the Muncy Historical Society and Museum of History. The little historical magazine was started by J. M. M. Gernerd in June 1868, and published irregularly, hence the name. All of your purchases benefit the mission of Muncy Historical Society and Museum of History.
