Location: Ward L. Myers Elementary School, 125 New Street, Muncy
Expanded Hours, Air-conditioned facility, convenient parking

UGRRF_4 This year we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of our annual quilt show so we have chosen “anniversary” as our 2014 challenge theme. Tin, aluminum and diamonds are the perfect gifts for a 10th wedding anniversary and challenge entrants might have chosen one, two or all three of these for their “challenge” inspiration.

To celebrate our anniversary we will accessorize the show with wedding gowns from the Muncy Historical Society’s extensive collection. The gowns will be highlighted and exhibited throughout the Show, making this a very unique opportunity to view antique, vintage and contemporary gowns alongside our always very diverse quilt exhibition.

In keeping with our 2014 focus on the UGRR, quilters will have the opportunity to participate in a Scavenger Hunt that will take them to several locations in the Muncy community for answers and to be rewarded with a free quilt block or two. For those who complete the Hunt, their completed passport will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.

ANNOUNCING OUR

10th ANNUAL QUILT SHOW & CHALLENGE

July 18-19, 2014

Quilt Entry Deadline: Wednesday, July 16, noon

Quilt Challenge – 2014

In July, 2014 we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of our annual quilt show so we have chosen “anniversary” as our 2014 challenge theme. Tin, aluminum and diamonds are the perfect gifts for a 10th wedding anniversary and you might choose one, two or all three of these for your “challenge” inspiration. While we will accessorize the show with wedding gowns from the Muncy Historical Society’s extensive collection, “anniversary” might have a very different meaning for you. An anniversary is a day that commemorates or celebrates a past event that occurred on the same day of the year as the initial one … so be creative! Remember, your quilt entry in the challenge category must be accompanied by documentation outlining your particular inspiration and size restrictions, as above, will apply.

LYCOMING LILY BASKET WORKSHOP

Workshop: Lycoming Lily Basket

Sponsored by the Muncy Historical Society & Museum (MHS)

AN INVITATION TO JOIN US!

NOTE: Held in Conjunction with the 2014 Quilt Show & Quilters Rummage Sale

Saturday, July 19, 9 a.m. to Noon; $20

Muncy Historical Society, 40 N. Main Street, Muncy

We are delighted to host our educational and hands-on workshop in conjunction with our 3rd Quilter’s Rummage Sale. As always, class size is limited so don’t delay in completing the enrollment information at the bottom of this announcement.

In this workshop you will complete (at least) one lily basket block and formulate plans for your quilt — whatever size and sensibility is pleasing to you. This is a paper piecing class of intermediate complexity so basic paper piecing technique is a requisite. Please bring to class:

Fabric you have chosen for the four positions in the block (background, lily, foliage and basket): ¼ yard of each will get you started, but bring your whole stash if it makes you happy, or if the final selection is in question.

  • Sewing machine in good working order with a new size 90 needle
  • Rotary cutting equipment: cutter with new blade (treat yourself), ruler, mat, “add an eighth” ruler & scalpel-style seam ripper.
  • Basic sewing supplies, neutral #50 thread

On workshop day, you may purchase a pattern form MHS. Papers for one 10” block will be furnished. Any burning question you may have, I will be happy to answer by phone (570-935-0372).

See you soon.
