20th Annual Quilt & Textile Show

Spend a weekend in historic Muncy!

Always more than a Quilt Show, in its 20th year, the 2025 Challenge theme is “Lest We Forget – Fabrics of Our Lives.” The event showcases spectacular hand and machine workmanship, appliqué, and other quilting techniques, reflecting the originality of the makers and their expertise with needle and thread, from private and Muncy Historical Society collections. The show is always “set” so that attendees can “step far away from the quilt to see the quilts geometric design and color patterns as a whole composition, or to stand inches away and observe the combinations of fabric, stitching, batting density and handmade variations.

Once again, Muncy’s quaint and beautiful river town is the setting for the Muncy Historical Society’s annual Quilt &Textile Show. Slated for June 13-14, 2025, visitors can view antique, vintage, and modern quilts, wearable art, and woven coverlets. This year, the Show will be held in the Muncy Area Junior-Senior High School gymnasium, with an entrance from Schuyler Avenue. This location features easy access, convenience, and ample parking. The show runs from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, June 13, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14. General admission is $8, with discounts for six or more guild members attending together ($6 per member).

This juried show is open to all quilters. This is an opportunity for quilters to enter a quilt, or quilts, and/or wearable art, and for the non-quilter to exhibit textiles from their private collections (see registration instructions below). We anticipate that show entries will be stunningly beautiful, from the antique to modern textiles, representing virtually all styles and techniques.

Now in its twentieth year, the event will showcase spectacular hand and machine workmanship, appliqué, and other quilting techniques, reflecting the makers’ originality and expertise with needle and thread. The show is always “set” so that attendees can “step far away from the quilt to see the quilt’s geometric design and color patterns as a whole composition, or to stand inches away and observe the combinations of fabric, stitching, batting density and handmade variations.”

A three-person panel will judge the quilt entries and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in the Quilt Challenge, Appliqué, Other Techniques, Use of Color, Hand Quilting, Domestic/Hand-Guided Machine Quilting, Computer-Guided Machine Quilting, Bed, Mini, and Wall Hanging, Youth, Modern, Art, Wearable Art, and Other Textile categories. The judges will award only one winner for Best of Show, selected from all first-place winners, a Best Original Design winner, and a Judge’s Choice winner. Friday show attendees will nominate their personal favorite for the Viewer’s Choice award.

Challenge Quilt Themes – 2025 & 2026

The 2025 Quilt Challenge theme is “Lest We Forget – Fabrics of Our Lives.” Our lives are made up of interconnected experiences, relationships and moments, signifying that every aspect of our lives, big or small, contributes to who we are. They might commemorate artifacts & made by individuals for themselves or as a gift for a family member or friend; others might be a collaborative – a group of people for presentation to a member of their community; they might commemorate a special occasion; they might celebrate friendships that link the individuals represented on it; they might preserve the memory of relationships that once existed; or they might mediate experiences by marking major life transitions. .

This year’s theme sets the stage for 2026, culminating in the show’s commemoration of America250. “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” has been selected as our June 12-13, 2026 theme. Thomas Jefferson had this to say, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Always More Than a Quilt Show!

Always more than a quilt show, the show activities have been selected to appeal to all ages and young people are encouraged to attend. This event is designed to be a glorious, colorful, and educational experience. As with every year, there will be several special exhibit and demonstration areas!

This year’s show will have “demonstration adventures” … hand- and machine-quilting, paper piecing, binding and applique, and other sewing machine techniques … all designed for young people and adults alike. Many of the demonstrators will be available during most of the show hours to provide instruction and consultation.

To Register Quilt(s) or Other Textile(s)

You must complete a show registration form, available by calling 570-546-5917 or online at www.MuncyHistoricalSociety.org. Registration forms and quilt and/or textile entries must be received by the Muncy Historical Society by June 2 through June 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon, or earlier by advance appointment. Quilts must include a 4-4 ½ hanging sleeve. Quilt/textile pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. or by appointment at the museum.

Directions

Directions to the Quilt Show at the Muncy Junior Senior High School are I-80 to I-180W, to exit 10, turn left to Muncy, at streetlight left onto West Penn Street, 2 blocks left turn onto Sherman Street, and next right onto Schuyler Avenue.

Or from Williamsport, I-180 to exit 13A, turn right to Muncy, 1st light make a left turn onto S. Main Street, next light, right turn onto W. Penn Street, 2 blocks make left onto Sherman Street, and next right onto Schuyler Avenue.

Please wear comfortable, flat-heeled shoes.
