The annual meeting of the Muncy Historical Society will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 8, at its 40 N. Main Street location
A specially created video of the September 2019 Muncy Farms 250th anniversary celebration will open the meeting. The video, made possible through the efforts of Steve and Martha Huddy, captures the highlights of the day. It is a wonderful recap for those who were able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event. And for those who were not able to attend, the 45-minute video will be an overview of many of the activities that made this day special.
The museum store will have copies of the December 2019/January 2020 “Now and Then” publication and “Only One Child,” the book authored by Brian Barlow. The current “Now and Then” issue features interesting extracts from the interviews the Huddy’s conducted with Malcolm Barlow, owner of Muncy Farms, with some of his comments included in the video.
Following the show, Paul Metzger will open the annual meeting. The presentation will include proposed changes to the society’s bylaws and board elections. Board nominees include Mike Davis, Selinda Kennedy, Daphne Metzger, and Bill Poulton. Once that portion has been completed, Poulton, as executive director, will summarize the society’s 2019 initiatives and successes, followed by an introduction of the 2020 events calendar and initiatives.
The society’s meetings and events are always open to the public. Call (570) 546-5917 for more information.
