MUNCY — Under the baton of Music Director/Conductor Gerardo Edelstein, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra returns to Muncy to perform a variety of musical selections at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. The outdoor concert location is 232 Pepper Street, Muncy Creek Township, Muncy.
WSO will perform a “West Side Story” medley, a waltz from Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin,” Johann Strauss’ jaunty, high-spirited “Tritsch Tratsch Polka,” Brahms’ lively “Hungarian Dance No. 5,” John Williams’ music from “Harry Potter,” and a Beatles medley. The orchestra will also feature “America the Beautiful” and Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Bring your family, pack your blankets, and head out for an evening of priceless music, absolutely free! As the sun sets, relax, enjoy and share in the fun-filled, community-oriented public experience of this live, outdoor concert. Muncy Historical Society will provide free popcorn and the WSO will have its 2016-2017 season brochure available and WSO members stand ready to discuss the details for their upcoming 50th anniversary celebration season.
The “Pops at Pepper Street” free concert is sponsored by Muncy Historical Society and its financial partners, the Waldron Memorial Fund at the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts, Hudock Capital Group, Muncy Bank and Trust Company, and Muncy Professional and Business Association. For this Lower Lycoming County concert, additional financial support comes from friends of the Muncy Historical Society.
Parking is available at Muncy High School and on Painter, Buffington and Lincoln streets. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the First United Methodist Church sanctuary, 602 S. Market Street, Muncy.
